Adding new employees

When you add an employee, the information collected varies based on the employee's function within the system. An employee who will complete tasks on behalf of another employee requires team membership, assignment categories values, and more. An employee whose only purpose is to benefit from a work event likely does not need team membership, assignment categories, and so on.

Information collected can be customized for your SilkRoad Onboarding implementation. SilkRoad Support can add custom fields based on your request. Custom fields are visible in the Employee Profile section of the Employee Details page. Employee Profile fields can also be included in your task and notification definitions. Your employee can view custom employee profile fields in the Task Detail page, task descriptions, and notifications. An Employee Profile Edit page can be added to your event portal (by SilkRoad Implementation as part of the portal development).

  • You can manually enter employees through the SilkRoad Onboarding user interface. It's a straightforward data entry process.
  • You can import employees using a SilkRoad Onboarding web service—User Import and Edit API. To learn more—including XML syntax, return codes, and processing rules—refer to the User Import and Edit Guide (RCBulkUserImportandEdit.pdf).
  • You can import users in bulk.
  • Employees can be imported via a data feed from SilkRoad Recruiting.
