Rival WingSpan permissions

You use Permissioned Objects (POBs) in Rival WingSpan to set the permissions for pages, links, controls, and data. Each system role has a full set of associated POBs. Within a set, there are four POB types:

  • Link
  • Privilege
  • Data
  • Column

Many POBs are set using the Permissions option on the Manage Roles page. However, POBs for most Rival WingSpan pages are automatically set by the Manage Navigation page as part of setting up the navigation bar. The exceptions are the Employee Journal pages which must be set using the Permissions option on the Manage Roles page.

A single POB permission consists of the combination of an Employee List and Access. The settings for each are shown in the following table.

Employee List

Description

Self

The set including only the current user

Children

The set of active direct reports (1-level down) of the current user for the selected role

All No Self

The set of all active employees excluding the current user

All

The set of all active employees

Note: If a POB does not involve a set of employees, the Employee List is usually set to "All". If a POB does involve a set of employees, the Employee List is set to reflect the set of employees.

Access

View

Can view the data

Note: If a POB does not involve a set of employee data fields, Access is usually set to "Edit". If a POB does involve a set of employee data fields, Access is set to reflect the access the user has to the fields.
