Author a content object

1. From the navigation bar, click Content>Authoring>Content Objects.

   The Content Objects (Development) page opens.

   

   On the Content Objects (Development) page, you can search for and view content objects in the development stage. You can also:

   • View the properties for a content object
   • Preview a content object
   • Add a content object
   • Author a content object
   • Copy a content object
   • Delete a content object
2. Search for and select the content object that you want to author.
3. In the list beside a content object, click and then click Author.

   The Content Object Authoring page opens.

   

   On the Content Object Authoring page, you author an object.

   The Activity tree is on the left side of the page. This is where you add activities to the content object to build the menu. The system adds a new activity to the top of the tree. Activities are added from the top down. Use the buttons at the bottom of the panel to add, remove, or move an activity.

   Activity tree buttons

   	Inserts an activity into the content structure
   	Removes selected activity
   	Promotes selected activity to a linked content object
   	Moves the selected activity left in the content structure
   	Moves the selected activity right in the content structure
   	Moves the selected activity up in the content structure
   	Moves the selected activity down in the content structure

    

4. Add activities to build the menu:
   1. Click .

      The system adds a new activity to the top of the tree. Activities are added from the top down.

   2. Use the buttons at the bottom of the panel to add, remove, or move an activity.
5. Title each activity and associate the appropriate type of content:
   1. In the Title box, type a title for the activity.
   2. In the Content drop-down list, select the type of content for the activity.
6. Click Save.
7. Link activity to content:
   1. Click an activity to highlight it.
   2. Click Edit.
   3. Click Change to search for and select the appropriate content.
   4. Click Save to save your selection.
   5. (Optional) Click Options>Content Object Preview to view the content as it would look in the course.
   6. Continue with these steps until desired content has been attached to the appropriate activity.
