FAQ: How to assign instructors to training events?

How are instructors assigned to Training Events?

  • Instructors may be added via Training Event Properties or via the Planning Board. Instructors will see the TE in their "My Teaching" page on the Admin Portal. NOTE: Instructor Qualifications are NOT applied when assigning an Instructor via a Training Event. Instructor Qualifications are only calculated from within the Planning Board.

How to set up training events that span for more than one day?

  • Explore creating multi-session training events

SilkRoad Learning treats multi-session Training Events as single events, so users need to only enroll once into the Training Event and they will automatically be enrolled in all sessions. Or create multiple training activities for each session and link them using prerequisites.

Does SilkRoad Learning handle wait listing?

  • Yes. If Maximum Enrollment is defined for a course, SilkRoad Learning will automatically add additional students to the wait list. This feature can be enabled/disabled at the Training Event level.

Does GreenLight automatically enroll the next student from the wait list if an enrolled student cancels?

  • Yes, if specified in the Training Event properties (this is the default). Students are automatically enrolled from the waitlist based on the earliest waitlisted date. This can still be overridden by an Administrator.

Can I set up a course to require approval when students attempt to enroll?

  • Yes. The student can have up to 5 different supervisors with any one of them (as well as specified Training Contact or Administrator) being able to approve the student for a course. Note: There is only one level of approval.

Does the GreenLight Student Portal allow students to cancel out of training they have enrolled in?

  • Yes. With the following exceptions --- It is not at this time possible for a student to cancel:
    • any eCourse added through the Ecommerce Catalog
    • any Training Event after the Cancellation Cut-off time has passed
    • any Training Event that has already passed the Event Start Time
    • any eCourse that is being currently pushed as required training via a Qualification
    • any eCourse that they have completed (since the page has last been loaded)
    • any Training Event they are no longer enrolled in (since the page has last been loaded)

Cancelled eCourses appear clearly marked on the student’s My History page but they may not launch them in review mode.

Administrators may optionally individually turn off the ability to cancel:

  • any specific eCourse, any specific training event
  • all training events created from a specific training activity
  • all training events created from a specific training event group

Can a supervisor enroll their subordinates in training from the Student Portal?

  • Yes, supervisors may enroll students in training activities, eCourses and assignments from the Student Portal. Courses added in this manner show up under the Personal Qualification section of the student’s Learning Plans. Note that currently supervisors cannot register students for a specific training event via the Student Portal.
