Copying a training event

You can copy an existing training event and use it as a basis to create a new training event in the future. It is an efficient way to create a new training event rather than creating one from scratch. When copying an existing training event, SilkRoad Learning:

  • Clones the training event and all associated sessions
  • Copies all the instructor and resource information
  • Copies the start date, start time, and time zone
  • Names the training event by appending Copy and date/time stamp to the end of the name
  • Does not copy training event group name, enrollment list, declined audit log, and approval comment
  • Does not automatically transfer students on the Waitlist to the cloned training event. However, you can choose to transfer them to the cloned training event.

Note: If the training event to be copied is a Requires Enrollment Approval type and you choose to transfer the waitlist, the new training event is created with the waitlisted users and approval status is changed to pending, approval comment is purged, approval requested date is changed to be the copy date time, and waitlist reason appears as Added by Administrator.

You work with a copied training event on the Copy Training Event window.

By default, after a copy of a training event is created, it appears on the Training Events page with a Planning status.

Training event enrollment notifications

When copying an existing training event, SilkRoad Learning automatically triggers training event notifications as long as they are configured and active. For details, refer to Notification messages, triggers and properties.
